BEING vs. DOING

Recently, I was at my acupuncture session discussing my Blog with the Doctor/Acupuncturist and her Assistant.  During the conversation, her Assistant blessed us with this saying.  “You are a Human Being not a Human Doing.”  This is a very simple, yet profound statement that I knew had to be my next post!  Shout out to Emily for the Blessing and Dr. Meltzer of Relief Acupuncture for providing the environment for the phrase to emerge….

(2nd Blessing)

“If you want to find the secrets of the Universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.”
-Nikola Tesla

Good lookin out Shaquera P. for Blessing me with the Tesla phrase!

Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines ‘Being’ and ‘Doing’ as…
 Being –
-the quality or state of having existence
-conscious existence

Doing-
-the act of performing or executing
-things that are done or occur

I feel like I’m in my college Algebra/Trigonometry class defining terms, but I digress…Let’s continue…

Energy=Self
Frequency=Harmony with Self (God, etc)
Vibration=Being (Stillness of the Spirit and Mind to Be aware of the Creator within)…

One should Be what they desire, not Do what they desire (on first read, this looks like it makes little to no sense…Stay with me)...The former is the road to Mastery of said desire...For example, in the Hiphop culture, one is either Hiphop or they are not...Meaning, Rappin is what one does & Hiphop is what you are (Being)...When in harmony with this truth, real Hiphop can be distinguished from 'Rap' music...Another example...It's to my understanding, the Biblical Jesus didn't walk around with scriptures reading them to his followers, he was the living embodiment of divinity...Meaning he was God (Being), not acting like God...Doing the works of...

I periodically hear adults conversing on the various aspects of child rearing and teaching the youth how to behave, when we should be educating them on how to be in harmony with the Creator within them.  As adults, we are all making our way through life and want the best quality of it we can achieve.  With the mis-educaton of ‘Doing’, we all encounter challenges, such as, employment, relationship and health choices (exercising & dieting), spiritual/mental health, etc.

These examples illuminate my recurring theme throughout my blog, the re-connection of the self with the Self to empower self. This is done by peeling away the mis-education, being in harmony with the Creator at all times and utilizing its energy to achieve one's goals/desires. Focusing on one’s Spiritual, Mental and Physical aspects of the self creates the anchor/foundation to Be Spiritually, Mentally & Physically Healthy, Be the Parent, Be the Friend, and/or Be the Lover/Companion. To do this, one must go further than acts…You must Be in harmony with what you desire, you must live it…Become the Lifestyle…

In short, Spiritual and Mental healthiness leads to harmonious Physical fulfillment.

Let’s take 3 deep breaths using the ‘Pot Belly’ technique from my Breathing post. Take five minutes during your day to still yourself by simply breathing, allowing yourself to re-connect to your true source of energy.

PERFECT PERSON...The Pursuit

I’ve got the courage to heal each time with the mind…Yes, mentally divine…
Pardon my circumference, physical space…Face your true nature as a drop Bass…”
Warlord D.F.T.

Peace & Greetings All,

Before I go any further, I need to acknowledge my oldest Daughter. She recently started her own company, Unique and Lovely Clothing. Would you bless her by checking out her site?

Her mission statement and concept are very uplifting and substantive!...Daddy Loves you Princess!

Unbeknownst to me, as I was drafting this post, she was putting together and launching said company…I bring this point to light for the essence of the concept for her company is the theme in which I’m addressing within this post (We didn’t share this with each other)…God is good all the time…All the time (you’ll know the rest)…Oh, if you notice the similarity with both of our page background colors, she designed them.

Shifting gears…Do any of these sound familiar?

-I’m looking for the perfect mate, situation, job, time, etc.

For the purpose of this post, the focus will be on the perfect person.

When thinking of perfection, consciously/subconsciously there’s comparison. We’ve been
mis-educated on a standard of someone being perfect, then others are compared to that person by default…Hold that thought…

I can recall when I was a youth, my parents told me that my Sister and I were special…God’s children…Not better than anyone, but unique, as everyone else was unique. How do you compare uniqueness? Should we compare?

Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines 'Perfect' and 'Unique' as...

-Perfect
-Being entirely without fault or defect
-Satisfying all requirements
-Corresponding to an ideal standard or abstract concept

Unique
-Being the only one
-Being without a like or equal

Let’s examine the first definition of ‘Perfect’, ‘Being entirely without fault or defect’. I don’t know about any of you, but I was brought up being taught that we as humans were not perfect. Soo…then… how can something/someone imperfect recognize that which is perfect?...Cleansing Breath…Let’s check out the last definition ‘Corresponding to an ideal standard or abstract concept’. Who created this ideal standard or abstract concept? Given what is said about how humans are not perfect, how could said humans set an ideal standard or abstract concept about being perfect? Would not the aforementioned standard/abstract concept be less than perfect? What’s your point, Sir?...My point is that we need a paradigm that correctly speaks to the truth about the human species. That truth is that we are all ‘Unique’. More specifically, we are all ‘Uniquely perfect’.

Uniquely Perfect
-One’s Spirit, Mind and Body are in harmony with self & Self/Universe/God/Allah/Jehovah/Jesus, etc.

So, are you saying that since we are all ‘Uniquely perfect’, we shouldn’t educate ourselves, diet and exercise, Sir? How does one improve on perfection (their uniqueness)? No, I’m saying that doing these things strip away layers of mis-education thus putting us in harmony with our ‘Uniquely perfect’ self. There's no improvement, just harmony.

Let's examine the word 'Educate'. The Latin root is educo, which means to 'educe' or draw out. To be educated one must have something 'drawn out' of themselves...Their Uniqueness...Their Uniqueness of self...Their Knowledge of self...Thus, the first form of education is Knowledge of self.

Transfer this concept to the objective of attaining your Spiritual, Dietary and Exercise goals.  Allow the Creator (God, Allah, the Universe, etc.) to be the ‘Driver’ of your vehicle, the Energy/Inspiration that manipulates your ‘Mind’ and operates your physical ‘Body’.  Like the Driver makes sure his/her vehicle consumes the proper fluids, as well as have the proper maintenance to keep it running smoothly, allow your ‘Driver’ to guide you to reach and surpass your goals!  Utilize this formula/path, master it and connect with the achiever within.  Fulfill your birthright and remember it starts with mastering your ‘Breathing’, making your goal your dominant thought and having ‘Faith’ that it will be manifested (along with putting in the work).

Right now I would like everyone to close your eyes, get comfortable and take three ‘cleansing’ breathes (using the ‘pot belly’ technique from the ‘Breathing’ post). As you’re taking these breathes, mentally say, “I Am that I Am”. This process connects you through your perfectly Unique self to the Creator/Universe/God/Allah/Jehovah/Jesus/Awareness. Do this as often as you like. As my oldest Daughter would say, “Adorn your C.R.O.W.N.!”…

ARE YOU LISTENING...THE ART OF...

In researching this topic, I chose to approach it slightly different from my previous works.  Along with using support documentation, I also chose to observe people around me.  My observation revealed that quite a few people do not listen well; they may hear but not actually listen. Every now and again I find myself not listening (my Wife is saying “Preach!”) and just hearing.  When I catch myself, I refocus to listening mode (unless I really don’t want to hear what is being said, but I digress)...Many use the words ‘listening’ and ‘hearing’ interchangeably when in actuality, they have different meanings.

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary-

To Hear is to ‘be aware of (sound) through the ear’.

To Listen is to ‘hear something with thoughtful attention: give consideration.

From the definitions, listening is at least a step further than hearing, it’s an active effort.  It requires concentration for its part of the communication process.  This process where the listener interprets what is heard, gains understanding and provides an adequate response to it.  This response also may use the other physical senses to be better proficient during active listening.  Not just for the ears, listening is a full body experience or process.  To be an effective listener, one must focus on the situation at hand.  How does one listen to the spirit and body? Can the principles used in listening to another be used to listen to one’s own spirit and body?
More specifically, when you’re experiencing a headache, indigestion, stress, panic attack or any other dis-ease ailment, what steps do you take to address them?  How about when you get winded walking up one flight of stairs or your clothes have become too tight, are we just hearing or are we listening to our body essence?

In addressing the above scenarios, the process or formula is the same.  The first step is to ‘still’ oneself.  This is done by breathing correctly (see post on ‘Breathing’).  Next, target the problem then create solutions.  In ‘stilling’ oneself, your essence will direct you to the source of your
dis-ease.  This is important for we’ve been mis-educated to address symptoms versus the root of our issues.  Let’s go through a couple of examples.

PANIC ATTACK/STRESS

A panic attack or any other stress related issue can occur due to multiple situations, ranging from taking a test, performing a task to engaging with another individual or individuals.  As one’s panic attack/stress level increases, one’s breathing pattern changes and becomes shortened, causing the body to tense.  Simultaneously, the mind fixates on the issue(s) magnifying them thus creating a downward spiral into this abyss.  As stated in the previous paragraph, the first step is to ‘still’ oneself by ‘potbelly breathing’.  By putting the focus on one’s breathing, it becomes regulated and slowed, causing the body, mind and spirit to relax.
From this ‘stilled’ or calm position, one can properly address the trigger to their panic attack or stress.  Keep in mind that the solution might be to physically remove oneself from this trigger.  If you’re not able to remove yourself, allow your achieved calm to root you in the present.  The Essence will provide you with solutions (If you’re in a situation and not able to remove yourself, allow the Essence to provide solutions to minimize your experience within the ordeal).  Being rooted in the present prevents one from f.e.a.r. (false expectations appearing real).  Oft times, this dis-ease is due to a scenario that we imagine will happen.

BEING NON ACTIVE

As people (inclusive of children) become busier with their lives, many increase their level of inactivity as it relates to physical exercise.  The results of this inactivity may manifest itself as one is walking up stairs (getting winded) or putting on clothes that they once wore comfortably a few months ago and now are tight (or don’t fit at all).  For those who have or currently experiencing this, did you listen to your body as this occurred? If so, how did you address this example?  One obvious way to address these scenarios is to start exercising.  One’s exercise program can range from walking 20-30 minutes three to five times a week, to a much more intense program of cardio activities, along with resistance training.  Other great exercise programs are core based ones, such as Pilates and Yoga.  To make any exercise program you choose most affective, incorporate a diet that compliments your workout. For those who haven’t exercised in a while (or not at all), it would be a great idea to get a physical exam.

As you master listening to the Essence within you (the Spirit to Mental to Body connection), peace, love and empowerment will emanate within and throughout you.  Needless to say, your quality of life will be greatly enhanced and you will have a better relationship with self and others.
